CITY SERVICES
Tip #2 -- Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Museums, & Libraries
Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Museums, & Libraries are all necessary for
a great city.
Hospitals, Schools, and Colleges have a limited capacity (number of
beds, number of desks, etc.) . As your city grows, you will need
to keep adding Hospitals, Schools, and Colleges.
Museums and Libraries are slightly different. These are needed
to help further the education of your Sims and make the city a good
place to live and work. Museums and Libraries don't have fixed
capacities like the Hospitals, Schools, and Colleges, but you will need
more as the city grows.
Your "Health, Education, & Aura" Advisor can help tell
you how you are doing with these important services. Click on
[Meet] and then this advisor... he can tell you a lot about what you
need to build, and when. Check in with him often to see how you
are doing. Another important tool you can use to monitor how these
services are doing is the [Query] button.
Hospitals:
Hospitals increase your populations health and lifespan, and your
Sims will start demanding them right away. Hospitals need to be
distributed throughout the city so that the Sims can get to them, and
each hospital will cost money every month as part of your "Public
Health" budget.
You can check on how your hospitals are doing by using the [Query] button and clicking
on any hospital. If the "Number of Patients" starts
getting close to the "Number of Beds", you need to build
more hospitals! Also check the "Grade" (you may need
to scroll down to see this). The grade will be affected by if
you have enough hospitals, and if they are adequately funded in your
budget.
Schools & Colleges:
Schools and Colleges help improve the education level in your
city. Better education will lead to high-tech industries
developing. Museums and Libraries help education and
"aura".
Your Sims will need Schools right away. Colleges, Museums,
and Libraries will be needed later as your city grows.
Use the [Query] button to check on the grades of the Schools,
Colleges, Museums, and Libraries. For Schools, if the
"Number of Students" starts getting close to the
"Number of Desks", you need to build more schools!.
For Colleges, if the "Students in Attendance" starts getting
close to the "Capacity", you need to build more colleges!
TIP -- The "Grades" of
the Hospitals, Schools, Colleges, Museums, & Libraries are worth up to 5 points on the Judges Scoring (item
City Layout #3). For full points, your city will need a grade of
"A" on all 5 of these items. Also, your city's
"health" number and "education" number are worth 2 points
each on the Computer
Score Sheet (items 5 & 6), and these numbers are affected by how good your Hospitals, Schools,
and Colleges are.
