Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

Chair's Report - John Nierenberg:
· John thanked the new officers and extended special thanks to Steve Brown for his work on the Northwest Area meeting coming up and Leann Kostek for her effort to make sure Milwaukee night was well organized. He announced the 2001 Region 6 meeting will be in San Diego.
· We discussed limitations of our alias server, which Leann will look into.
· We want to reinstitute our graphic calendar representation, will Al Moser will look into.
· Banking still needs to be switched to our new treasurer, Rich Christie. Sheri and Rich need to coordinate on this. Steve Brown reminded us of the need for an audit.
· The printing of the DataLink is moving to a new printer.

PACE Report - Steve Brown
· Steve reported on arrangements he's been making for the Northwest Area meeting on October 21. It will be at the SeaTac Radisson, from 8-4. It is intended for Section Chairs, Vice-chairs, Student Branch officers and Student Branch advisors. It will have a strong networking component.
Northcon -
· Leann Kostek reported on Milwaukee Night during Northcon, which will be on the 4th floor of the Meydenbauer Center, Bellevue, Tuesday, October 24. It's in good shape
· Rob Tiplin urged chairs to publicize Milwaukee Night at their September meetings. IEEE will have a booth at Northcon.
Standing Chair Report - Duane Carlson, Leonard Carlsen, Karen Pavletich, Chetan Sharma
· Karen Pavletich reported that she is organizing for the kickoff of the Future Cities competition this year.
Student Chapters -
· Curtis Lu reported on his experience at the PACE Workshop. The UW officers are also well along in their arrangements for an SPAC at UW on January 11. They met three times during the summer. They are looking for additional sponsorships. They are expecting attendance of about 300 and will be asking the Section for about $200 in monetary support. They are also doing a good job of getting company sponsorships of their IEEE meetings and other events.
Chapter Reports
· Circuits and Systems - Erik Godo. CAS is supplying one of the topics for Milwaukee Night. The speaker is a professor from UW.
· Power Electronics - Merv Eaton. PEL is supplying a speaker, Merv, for Milwaukee Night, talking about Spice modeling of complex magnetic devices.
Old Business
· Erik Godo renewed the suggestion that, in addition to our per-month fee for advertising on our Web-site, we offer a full-year rate of $1000. We discussed this briefly.
