Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
Date: Tuesday, April 11th , 2000
Time: 6:40 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

Changes to the Agenda - none
Approval of Minutes
March meeting minutes approved.
Chair Report - Franklin Lu
* Spring Banquet -.Invitations will go out to the Millennium award
recipients to attend the Spring Banquet.
* Milwaukee Night - Northcon will be held in Bellevue in October. Rob
Tiplin has suggested that Tuesday, October 24th we hold a Milwaukee night.
Franklin would like to see a minimum of 4 chapter participate. Steve
recommends 6-8 chapters to make it a success. Chapter are encouraged to
hold their meetings the same night. Your chapter speaker must be prepared to
give their presentation twice. It's an opportunity for attendees to attend
other society's meetings.
* NW Area Meeting is April 29th in Portland. The student paper
competition will be judged..
* Region 6 Awards - May 1st is the deadline for nominations for
Region 6 Awards.
* Student Branch - Prof. Fu Li is chair of the Student Branch. Note
the following upcoming dates:
IEEE Region 6 Student Web Site Contest - April 27th
IEEE Outstanding Student Branch - April 27th
Student Branch Annual Report due - May 1st
* Northcon - $11,555.56 will be distributed from 1999 Northcon.
$4,842.59 for the Seattle Section.
Vice Chair Report - John Nierenberg
* The Spring Banquet - The banquet is Thursday, May 18th : 7:00 -
11:00 p.m. at the Space Needle in Seattle. Contact John for reservations.
Checks should be sent to Sheri Rees. No tickets or flyers will be printed. A
notice will go in next month's Datalink. The entertainment arrangements are
still pending. The awards are ordered.
Secretary's Report - Sharon Williams
* no report.
Treasurer's Report - Sheri Rees
* 2000 Rebate Worksheet - The annual financial report has been filed
with the National Office

PACE Chair's Report - Steve Brown
* At May's meeting, Steve will provide a summary report of the PACE
government activities.
Standing Chair Report -
* Datalink Editor - Franklin Lu for John Thompson
There will be a May Datalink. The
Student Activities - Al Moser absent - report submitted
PE refresher - The course is complete. 20 individuals registered
for the class.
Student Activities - The Pizza Feed was held Monday and was a
success. Currently, Al has no applicants for the Student Paper contest.
* Student Chapters
Curtis Lu - University of Washington - Chair Student Chapter - report
submitted
UW EE T-shirts will be ready in a week. The price is $10 for IEEE members
and $12 for nonmembers.
Curtis submitted a copy of the Spring 2000 budget. The chapter has 3
volunteers for the Summer PES meeting. They are also planning a silent
auction fund raiser and are requesting donations from companies.
Kenny Kurchoff - Seattle University - Vice President Student Chapter .
The chapter meeting was held today. Elections will be held the end of April.
Papers for the Student Paper contest are due April 16th. They are hoping
some seniors will submit papers. Their annual picnic is scheduled the 6th of
May at Lake Sammamish. They would like this to be a joint function with the
UW student chapter.
Chapter Reports
Antennas & Propagation/Microwave Theory & Techniques/Electron Devices - Tom
Raschko
* A joint meeting is scheduled with the Communications Chapter. No
meeting scheduled for March. Tom needs assistance in scheduling quest
speakers from September to the end of the year.
Communications - Joe Decuir
* May is a joint meeting with Tom Raschko. Details are on the web
site. The chapter will attempt to schedule a joint meeting with Computers
Chapter.
Industrial Applications - Duane Carlson
* Meeting schedule May 16th - Lighting Protection and Grounding..
Duane submits a letter for Franklin's signature. It acknowledges sponsorship
of the Industrial Applications national conference to held in Seattle
October 2003. Officer elections will be held May 16th.
Oceanic Engineering - Sheri Rees
* Meetings are scheduled from April through June..
Power Engineering - Robert Dahlgren
* Joint meeting is scheduled April 18th. April 25th are officer
elections.

New Business
June EXCOM meeting will be held at a restaurant . This will be the last
meeting for this EXCOM officer group. We must form a committee to de a
review of the Seattle Section by-laws.
Old Business
May EXCOM meeting will be held again at Seattle University.
