The talk will be presented by Mr. Trevor J. Moody, Partner, Frazier Healthcare Ventures

Abstract

The presentation will cover three areas:
    o   A background on the lifesciences venture capital community
    o   A discussion on how this relates to emerging opportunities in medical technology
    o   The nuts and bolts of what VCs are looking for and how they evaluate medical technology opportunities



Speaker Biography:

Mr. Moody will become a general partner in Frazier Healthcare V, having been a partner in Frazier Healthcare IV. He works primarily on medical device investment opportunities.
Mr. Moody's industry experience is in medical device R&D and as a management consultant. He joined Frazier Healthcare in 1999 and has led the financings of several medical device companies, such as Ascension Orthopedics, Calypso Medical, Cardiac Dimensions, Cierra and EBR Systems.
He is also active in medical device incubation and, among other seed investments, spearheaded Frazier Healthcare's founding of Calypso Medical in partnership with a leading academic physician.
Prior to joining Frazier Healthcare, Mr. Moody was a management consultant with The Wilkerson Group. While at The Wilkerson Group, Mr. Moody led the firm's efforts in the medical device industry on the West Coast. His work included acquisitions assessment, market opportunity reviews and strategic consulting assignments for many start-up and large-cap medical device companies.
Mr. Moody has also held R&D, product development and marketing positions at Telectronics and Ventritex, two successful medical device companies. While at Telectronics, Mr. Moody led product development teams that successfully gained FDA approval for three new cardiac devices.
He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (biomedical focus) from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and an MBA from MIT. Mr. Moody currently serves on the board of directors of Altiva Corporation, Ascension Orthopedics, Calypso Medical Technologies, Cardiac Dimensions, Cierra, EBR Systems and PatientKeeper. He is a board observer at CVRx. He also serves on the Strategic Planning Committee of Swedish Hospital in Seattle.
