Seattle Section Student Paper Contest

Date:April 10, 2010 (Saturday)
Time:10:00am - 5:00pm
Location: University of Washington, Seattle (Room EEB 105)
See here for parking.
Details: IEEE Regions have annual contests for students to demonstrate their writing and presentation skills. This year, we will have our third consecutive contests for students here in the Seattle Section.

We hereby invite all undergrad IEEE Student grade members, from any engineering school in the Seattle Section. Teams are OK, too; engineering work is usually a team sport.

Note that any IEEE Student members are eligible, even if their school does not (yet) have a student branch: Bellevue College, ITT Everett, UW Bothell, University of Puget Sound. Also, anyone is welcome to attend, so that they can understand and prepare for future contests.

The winning paper from each school will be eligible to compete at the IEEE Region 6 Northwest Area meeting on April 17, 2010 hosted by Gonzaga University in Spokane.

The rules are the same as for IEEE USA (Regions 1-6); see guidelines.

Schedule:

February 20: Submit entry to jdecuir@ieee.org
March 14: Selections made and announced.
April 3: Complete entry including presentation
April 10: contest, judging, awards

We have accepted 12 papers for presentation and judging. (We had 7 in 2008 and again in 2009.)

Initial submissions:

max: complete draft paper
min: abstract + outline.

Topics open to anything within scope of any IEEE technical society (see rules). We have posted all previous entries at http://www.ieee-seattle.org/student.html.

Prizes: $800 1st, $500 2nd, $200 3rd; IEEE Seattle shirts for contestants and judges.

IEEE student and professional members are welcome to attend.

Contact Joe Decuir if you have any questions.
