Details:Over the next 20 years, the age distribution of US population is projected to shift from 58% age 20-64 (working age) vs 13% over age 65 (retirement age) to 55% age 20-64 (working age) vs 19% over age 65 (retirement age).

Although this is a decline of only 5% in the working age population, it represents an increase of nearly 50% in the retirement "end of life" age group. Imagine what the world will be like in 2026. Imagine what you will be like at age 75 (expected to live 12 more years).

Consider the elderly people around you and their abilities, limitation and expectations for the remainder of their lives. Engineers, whether designing and implementing components, devices, organizations, communities or societies, can create systems that will improve the quality of life for our final years. During this discussion, we will consider the kinds of devices, housing, healthcare systems, community systems and environments that can be created to maximize quality of life.

Please come prepared with ideas that can be the basis of inventive improvements.
